London & Paris: Day 2 (Part 2)

Buckingham Palace

Queen Elizabeth II calls the Buckingham Palace her “office” Monday through Friday. You can tell if The Queen is home by a flag on top of the palace. If the union flag is up, she’s not home. If the royal flag is up, she is home! This is true for each of her three palaces. Her favorite palace to stay in is Windsor Castle, a.k.a. her weekend/holiday home. Her third palace is in Scotland.

Changing of the Guards

While we were at Buckingham Palace we were able to witness the changing of the guards! Alan led us to a street where we would have a front row view of the guards as they were led by a marching band for their shift change. It was quite the experience!

Museums

After we got to see Buckingham Palace, we went to South Kensington to visit the Science Museum and Natural History Museum. It was nice to be able to explore these at our leisure before we met back up for dinner. Check out their website to see all of the exhibits we were able to see!

The boys disappeared from my sight our first day and since then I am requiring mandatory updates if I can’t see them… so this is what I get now 😂

Jack the Ripper

After dinner we got to go on a Jack the Ripper tour. We were able to walk the same streets of London as Jack the Ripper did. We were very tired by this point in the day, but it was interesting nonetheless!

RICHELLE

Today was a lot of fun :). first we had breakfast at our hotel and it was actually really nice, and had a lot of options. yes there were beans, a whole pot of them 😳.

we then went on a guided tour of london (did you know that london consists of 31 boroughs and 2 cities ?!), and got to see the royal guards switch!

The regiment that was getting off walked right by us, which was really cool. i’d always heard about the royal guards and seen other people post about them, so to experience it myself was amazing :).

later in the day we (champlin, ryan, antonio and myself) went to a pub to have lunch. they all got fish and chips while i got a chicken burger because i’m a picky eater 😭. it was pretty good even though they put mayo on when i asked them not to :(.

after that we as we were walking to the tube to go to a Jack the Ripper tour, ryan antonio and i found a paddington the bear statue and got so  excited! we had to run back and take some pictures with it :)

overall today was amazing and i’m so grateful i’m getting to travel and spend time here while i’m young. i already love london and would love to come visit again when i’m older :). i’m incredibly grateful for champlin supplying this opportunity for us and being so kind and supportive through everything <3

RYAN

The best part of the day was going to lunch in the pub and experiencing true english fish and chips. Another thing was the Science Museum and seeing the cool minerals and rocks they had. One of the most satisfying things I have experienced so far has been the subways or tubes as they are called here.

Being apart of the crowd and riding public transport with other normal people is so different it’s fun. And paying with pounds is so fun.

ANTONIO

We got to learn more rich history about london and the two cities and 31 boroughs. the jack the ripper tour was pretty cool but the highlight by far was meeting paddington.

Paddington is a bear who moved to London and got his name from Paddington station! he’s the nicest bear around and he brings the best out of everyone. he also loves marmalade sandwiches.

If you’ve made it this far, I’ve got to tell you that my wix app has crashed at least 5 times and despite my saving this post as a draft I lost all of my progress a few times! But, I persevered, and you were able to see this post. :)
