We are going to see as many landmarks, museums, and memorials as we can fit into our schedule while in Washington DC & New York. On this tour we will dive deep into the history of our nation and many historical events you have only heard of in your textbooks. We will be on the ground where many life changing events have occurred in the past. I am so excited to lead students through cities they've never been in before!
Cost of the Trip
This trip's cost includes EVERYTHING (airline tickets, hotels, museums, breakfast, dinner, 24/7 tour director, local tour guides, etc.) besides some lunches that we will need to bring some extra cash for. I hope to set up fundraisers with businesses here in Hanford to help a bit with the cost of the trip. The success of the fundraisers will depend on the effort put in by my student travelers and their families. We will need all the support we can get! Families should prepare to pay the entire cost of the trip just in case. Travelers will need to work hard to have successful fundraisers and I do believe they can be successful with raising money to help cover the cost of the trip! The cost of the trip will be released on my blog once I have a parent meeting on Monday, May 9th.

We will discuss more about funding the trip once enrollment has closed and we have a solid group of travelers. We need a certain number of travelers on each trip to make the trip happen, so I don't want to start fundraising until we know we have enough travelers.
Who am I partnering with?

In case you're new to my blog and don't know, I am partnering with a company called Education First (EF). They have been leading student tours around the world for 55 years now, and are GOOD at what they do. You can read more about them here: "Get to know EF". I was sent on a training tour to Portugal just a few months ago (February 2022). I was the "student traveler" on the trip and it was an amazing experience that helped me feel prepared to take students on tours. I feel confident that EF will do everything they can to ensure my travelers are safe and having the time of their lives!

I realize that some of you may not know me! My name is Ms. Champlin, I have been working at Hanford West High School as a math teacher for five years. It has been my goal for several years now to lead students abroad and build a travel program here in Hanford. Unfortunately, the pandemic pushed back my plans a bit. I'm hoping to build a travel program where high school students from any school can attend! I do not want to limit enrollment to just the school I'm working at because all students deserve to have a chance to travel the world. If students who do not know me enroll on the trip I will be sure to schedule a time to meet the student and their parents/guardians so that we all know each other! I look forward to meeting new students and families within our community. You can learn a bit more about me on this post: "Let's Travel the World Together!"
Who can enroll on the trips?
For the Washington DC/New York trip any current 6th-8th grader can enroll. At the time of the trip students will be in 7th, 8th, and 9th grade! I originally only had this trip focused on the high school students but since I will be teaching at a middle school next year I decided to open up the trip to middle school students and focus on a younger travel group.
For the Costa Rica/Panama trip any current 8th-12th grader can enroll! Current 12th graders who are graduating this year can still go on the trip in 2023 as long as they are under 20 years old at the time of travel. Current 8th graders will be 9th graders at the time of travel, so they're good to go because they'll be in high school!
Spread the word!
I am so excited to make travel a reality for more students. If you know of any students who may be interested, please forward them this information or direct them to my facebook, instagram, or blog! Let me know if you have any questions.
♡ Ms. Champlin
