Adventure in Costa Rica & Panama? Count me in!

If there's anything I've learned as we have gone through a global pandemic and had our feet taken out from under us, it's that we need to find and experience as much adventure as we can. Life is too short to not embrace exhilarating moments that make our heart skip a beat in excitement.

What better place to do this than Costa Rica? The past few years have been tough on everyone, especially our youth. I have seen students miss a year or more of critical social and emotional development when the schools shut down. Virtual learning was one of the hardest things students have had to do, and we will see the negative effects of this experience for years to come.

My absolute favorite thing lately is seeing my students smile and laugh. I do my best to keep my classroom a phone-free zone because I want my students to actually talk to each other, face to face, not through a screen. During my training tour with EF in Lisbon, Portugal, they told us many times how important it is to have our students on tours disconnect from their phone. They see a difference when they have students glued to their social media versus students who are interacting with our tour guides and fellow travelers. They see a light in the eyes of the students who are present in the moment they're in.

As I began browsing through ideas for my next tour, I was drawn to the tours that had opportunity for excitement, adventure, and exploration. When I came across the itinerary for a 9-day trip to Costa Rica & Panama, I did not have to search any further. This is what my students need. This is the place. They can step out of their comfort zone and escape all they've ever known. I reached out to my EF tour consultant and we started planning as soon as we could. Some of the highlights of the trip include activities such as snorkeling through the coral reefs along the coast and zip-lining through trees for a unique perspective of Costa Rica's fascinating ecosystem.
